Ok, so you may have noticed we're technically into January here, but if you're anything like me, there was no way possible you could squeeze another activity into your pre-Christmas schedule. Not with a toddler, family events and party throwing to attend to! So you'll have to forgive me for getting my holiday styling post up a little late. Think of it as inspiration for next year!
This year, I got inspired by buffalo check and had to bring in some new pillows and napkins to tie it all together. I love how easy it is to change up a room by just switching out the pillows. The crispness of black and white and buffalo check gives me that hit of traditional Christmas (imagine pine trees, cabins and snow) while still feeling fresh and modern against my mid-century pieces.
For the tree, I wanted to go with mostly white ornaments to make it really stand out against the greenery. I love the way sticking to a single color palette makes the whole thing feel cohesive and calming without being too busy. I've done more multi-colored trees in the past but this year I wanted to try neutrals, and I'm in love with how it turned out!
For the table, I also wanted to stick with simple greenery and black and white. I found these great matte black candlesticks at Target and I love the bit of traditional farmhouse vibe they bring. It's like farmhouse and California beachy boho came together and had a baby!
The mantle was also kept simple with just a garland of fir branches picked up at the Christmas tree lot and some brass candlesticks. I considered going with the artificial stuff but I just can't do it. There's nothing like having real greenery even if it doesn't last forever.
And lastly, I had to deck out my favorite boho wood and antler wall hanging with an adorable wood bead garland.
The best part about this decor is I don't feel compelled to change it all up as soon as Christmas is over. This look will last me well into winter when I'm ready to just hunker down, cozy up to the fire and wait for spring!
